The future of education will be shaped by how we address challenges such as the teacher recruitment and retention crisis in various countries worldwide, digital inequalities, and exploring the opportunities and challenges of integrating Artificial Intelligence in Education.

From December 8 to 13, I joined global experts in Salzburg, Austria, for the Salzburg Global session on “The Future of Teaching,” where we collaborated to create innovative strategies that will influence education over the next decade.

My participation in this program originated from the curiosity I had at the beginning of the year; I remember saying if something would disrupt the education field, I want to know how, why, to what extent, the transformational process, my role, and to understand the impact of AI in education. Thankfully, my master’s degree dissertation allowed me to research this area. I am incredibly grateful to everyone who participated in my study (Faculty Interviewees and students who participated in answering the survey) and my supervisor, Helen Campbell Pickford, who gave me the needed push and proper guidance; it is safe to say it earned me a distinction grade and aligning with and contributing to the Salzburg Global Future of Teaching program which was held at Schloss Leopoldskron.

My major highlight from the program was that I joined the AI working group, where we co-designed and facilitated two sessions on exploring the current reality of AI and the potential of AI in education. My key guiding question was understanding how sustainable solutions could be built and different ways of collaboration between various stakeholders.

I also co-moderated the current reality of AI sessions, and I am grateful to have received feedback and guidance from my group members. Over the next year, I hope to continue expanding my knowledge in this field through key collaborations and the existing working Augmented teaching group.

Thank you, Salzburg Global, for creating a successful program that enabled me to experience Intergenerational collaboration in real-time. As I close out the year, I am taking the beautiful collaborations and relationships made with me. Thank you, everyone, for your welcoming smiles and stories.

I am excited to see the connections and work I did with YouthxYouth evolve. It was incredible to translate online connections to physical meetings like meeting our wisdom council member Dominic Regester Regester and Eva Keiffenheim from my consulting experience in 2022 with Big Change project on ‘What is the Purpose of education’. I enjoyed seeing our YouthxYouth residential Weaver, Lilitha B. do great work at Salzburg Global. I am reminded that every little effort compounds. It was a full-circle moment for me. I am glad I have kept showing up over the years.
